For nearly twenty years, I witnessed the incredible impact of music on youth in the South and West Side communities of Chicago. By introducing a variety of musical instruments in the classroom, I saw profound shifts in students – their concentration improved, their behavior and mindset became more positive. This experience was truly eye-opening, demonstrating music's remarkable ability to bridge cultural and emotional divides. It was this realization that fueled my desire to delve deeper into music as a therapeutic tool, building on years of working directly with youth.
I felt inspired to pursue a Master of Arts degree in Music Therapy. Through advanced studies, I explored and refined therapeutic techniques designed to bring healing and grounding to both students and educators. My diverse experience, including working with individuals in mental health and special education, has been fundamental to developing my approach. Now, it is my honor to share this rich expertise and experience through presentations and workshops, all aimed at nurturing the healing spirit that music embodies.
